I work with adults around relationships, self-esteem, identity, life transitions and emotional difficulties.
About
Begüm Koyuncu
I am a psychologist based in Berlin, offering psychological counselling to adults in English, German and Turkish.
I completed my master’s degree in Psychology, with a focus on Clinical Psychology, at the International Psychoanalytic University Berlin, where my studies were strongly shaped by psychodynamic and psychoanalytic perspectives.
I have several years of experience in psychological and psychosocial counselling with adults. Since 2021, my professional work has focused on supporting adults through emotional difficulties, relationship issues, questions of self-esteem and identity, and different phases of life.
Working across different languages and cultural contexts has also shaped the way I think about psychological experience, identity and belonging.

Counselling
What I work with
Relationships
Difficulties with partners, family or friends, such as conflict, distance or finding it hard to trust others.
Self-esteem & self-criticism
A harsh inner critic, very high demands on yourself, or a fragile sense of your own worth.
Identity & belonging
Questions about who you are and where you belong, including the experience of migration and living between cultures.
Guilt & shame
Feelings of guilt or shame that seem out of proportion or hold you back.
Life transitions
Separation, loss, a move, a new job or a new phase of life.
Emotional difficulties
Periods of low mood, worry, inner tension or feeling stuck.
Approach
My approach
My work is psychodynamically and psychoanalytically informed.
This means that we do not only look at what is happening now, but also at relationships, past experiences and patterns that may still influence how you feel and relate to others today.
I do not work with ready-made answers. Together, we try to understand what lies beneath a difficulty and what keeps it going.
